TCB March Madness 2013: Tyler Greene Vs Vincent Velasquez

Infielder Tyler Green vs pitching prospect Vincent Velasquez

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training, 64 players will face off in a head-to-head public vote to determine who advances to the next round, and who will eventually be crowned the community's favorite Astros player. For more details, click here for the introductory post.

The rules are simple: Determine which player you think should advance to the next round by voting for that player. Arguments made for an advancing player in the comments section below may be used in that player's description for the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up:

16 - Tyler Greene

No player may have liked hitting at Minute Maid Park more than Tyler Greene last year. Though he hit a pretty mediocre .230/.274/.400 in 330 plate appearances last season, Greene hit considerably better than that in the friendly confines of MMP. When he was in the city of Houston last season, Greene hit .279/.315/.632 with six home runs and six doubles in 73 plate appearances. Maybe the platoon Bo Porter should consider is a home/away split with MarGo. -David

Vs

49 - Vincent Velasquez

Coming off Tommy John surgery that wiped out his entire 2011 season Vincent Velasquez saw limited time on the mound for the Astros Tri-City low A club what innings he did pitch were nothign short of dazzling. In 45.2 starter innings Velazquez posted a 2.85 Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) with 51 strikeouts and 17 walks. 2013 could be a big year for Vincent Velasquez.
