MLB Scores: Astros win rain-shortened game against Marlins

It's raining. It's pouring. Brett Wallace is soaring.

The Astros played a short, five-inning game against the Marlins on Sunday, waiting out a 30 minute delay before the game was officially called. Before that, minor league starter David Martinez got the start and pitched 4 good innings against a Triple-A lineup from Miami. Martinez struck out two and walked none while allowing eight hits and one run. The 25-year old started 26 games last season for Lancaster, going 9-5 with a 4.38 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 160 innings.

Offensively, Brett Wallace provided some pop, taking Jacob Turner DEEP to left center to extend Houston's lead to 4-1. Wallace was 1 for 3 with a strikeout in the game. Shortstop Ronny Cedeno, officially signed Sunday morning, picked up a triple in two at-bats. F-Mart, the last remaining Martinii, was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored.

Meanwhile, Jose Altuve had another nice game in the leadoff spot, walking twice and going 0 for 1 with a steal and a run scored. Since being pushed up to that leadoff spot, Altuve has gone 4 for 14 with three walks, four strikeouts, two doubles and two steals.

Jose Veras also got to pitch an inning before the rain poured down, using the power of the plantain to throw a scoreless frame in the fifth. Veras didn't walk anyone, didn't strike out anyone and allowed two hits.
