Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?

Whoops, I meant that other J.D. ... J.D. Martinez, and if you're looking for him, Astros Nation must now turn its lonely eyes to Oklahoma City

USA TODAY Sports

Sunday might be seen as a holy day in some quarters, but maybe not in Astros camp, and especially not for Tyler Greene, J.D. Martinez and Jason Jaramillo, as all three were told to pack their bags.

Greene, who seemed to have the green light as the leading candidate at shortstop and possible leadoff hitter, is out of options, while Jaramillo and J.D.Martinez will be plying their trade at AAA Oklahoma City.

Still think spring training numbers don't make a difference? General Manager Jeff Luhnow said Greene's poor spring showing — a .167 batting average and 14 Ks in 42ABs — figured prominently in the decision to put him out of his misery.

Newcomer Ronny Cedeno and Marwin Gonzalez will now share the duties at shortstop.

As for J.D. Martinez, is this the end of the Martinii moniker? It's time for you, Astros fans, to belly up to the bar and discuss it.
