The toolsy hitter Fernando Martinez vs the toolsy pitcher Joseph Musgrove

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head to head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the communities favorite Astros player. For more details click here for the introductory post.

The rules are simple determine which player you want to advance to the next by voting for that player. Any excellent arguments made for an advancing player in the comments below may be used in the players description for the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up:

17 - Fernando Martinez

Fernando Martinez has struggled with injuries throughout his career, which helped whittle away his prospect status - at one time, he was on 4 straight Baseball America Top 100 Prospects lists, topping out at #20 in 2008. Still just 24 years old, he hit .237/.300/.466 in limited major league playing time in 2012, and most projection systems like him to maintain or surpass those numbers as a full-timer in 2013. A good corner outfielder with pop in his bat, there's still a little bit of room for him to grow as a major leaguer. -Anthony

Vs

48 - Joseph Musgrove

Joseph Musgrove was part of the return from Toronto in the JA Happ deal. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 230 pounds, he was a first round pick by Toronto in 2011 and though he's thrown fewer than 42 professional innings, scouts are very quick to point out his "major league aura." He struck out more than 10 batters per 9 IP in 2012, largely thanks to his fastball, which sits in the low 90s but has gone as high as 97 mph with heavy sink. He's also got a curveball that should become a plus pitch, and is working on a changeup to round out his arsenal. -Anthony
