TCB March Madness 2013: Brett Wallace Vs Mike Foltynewicz

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head to head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the communities favorite Astros player. The rules are simple determine which player you want to advance to the next by voting for that player. Any excellent arguments made for an advancing player in the comments below may be used in the players description for the next round. Vote subjectively, objectively or by using your trusty magic eight ball. Votes will last exactly 24 hours.

26 - Brett Wallace

If Brett Wallace generated half as much power with his bat as the number of TCB comments about his failings, the Astros would have a great player. As it is, the lefty swinging infielder has provided little more than a tease for what might have been. Still, he's a young player who still could find himself, though time is running out. After slashing .253/.323/.424 last season in limited action, Wallace could benefit from a new hitting coach, but critics will be quick to point out it's not the first time that line has been used. -Glenn AKA wgr56

39 - Mike Foltynewicz

Player development isn't a science, as much as Houston's front office may want it to be. DDJ is a good example, but Folty is another. After a disappointing 2011 season, the 20-year old had a great bounce-back year repeating Low A. In 152 innings, Folty had a 3.14 ERA with 125 strikeouts and 62 walks. He increased every big stat category while lowering his ERA and basically becoming more productive. He's still a project and his prospect status took a hit. But, after 2012, Folty looks more like Jordan Lyles than Brad Dydalewicz. -David
