TCB's MiLB Post-Season Awards: Best Name

Today's big poll is for which minor leaguer has the best name in the Astros Minor Leagues. It's important to know that there were no instructions on nominations, so you will see a nickname in there.

Michael "Folty" Foltynewicz

The man with arguably the best fastball in the system also has one of the best names. It's so unique and distinguishable. The nickname "Folty" is lazy (not meant as a slight) because it's just a shortened version of his last name, but that doesn't make it lame. As I've already said, the name is so unique that "Folty" still makes it a good nickname. And, to top it off, he's apparently very accepting of the nickname because he uses it in his twitter handle. He's a double-threat, good name and nickname.

Asher "Wojo" Wojciechowski

I honestly could copy and paste the previous blurb, since it's essentially the exact same situation. Unique name. Check. Nickname from the shortened last name. Check. Lazy nickname (again not meant as a slight). Check. Lazy but appropriate and not lame. Check. Uses nickname in twitter handle. Check. The only difference is that Asher's first name is a unique one as well.

Austin "Catfish" Elkins

Now this is a different breed. Austin...like Austin, Texas. Elkins...like Elkins, Arkansas (go ahead and google it, it's a real place). The name alone is pretty cool. But, it's the nickname that sells it. How many people do you know that have that nickname? Not many. He is also very accepting of the name as well and uses it on twitter. Apparently, word is that few, if anyone in the minors, refers to him as Austin.
