Earlier this morning, the Houston Astros released their 2014 spring training schedule that begins on February 28 and continues until the team hosts a pair of exhibition games at Minute Maid Park. Next year will mark the 30th season Houston has played its spring training games at Osceola County Stadium.
However, that may change as recent plans link the Astros to a shared spring complex with the Toronto Blue Jays in Palm Beach Gardens. Not many more years of kicking around in Kissimmee, so get down there while you have a chance.
Also of note is one of the two exhibition games Houston will hold at MMP. From the release:
The Astros will play a split-squad matchup with Texas on March 29, as half of the Major League club will be hosting the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz of the Mexican Baseball League for the first of two exhibition games at Minute Maid Park. Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT, while Sunday's matchup will start at 1:10 p.m. CT. This will mark the first time that Veracruz has played a Major League team in a Major League stadium, and the first time that the Astros have hosted a club from the Mexican League.
