The offense showed up scoring six runs, however, the Edgar Gonzalez got off to a blazing start allowing Philly after Philly to score. He wasn't the only one as three of the next five relievers also allowed at least two runs. The Astros have played well recently, but not tonight.
Pitching
Edgar Gonzalez started the game and did not pitch well. In four innings he gave up five runs on six hits, a walk and two strikeouts. He was followed by more ineptitude. Chuckie Fick came in for one out and gave up two runs, Fernando Rodriguez followed and go the next two outs with out giving up an earned run. It should be noted that Rodriguez inherited runners from Fick and allowed both to score.
Jose Valdez followed and allowed another two runs in 1.2 innings. Enerio Del Rosario got the final out of the seventh inning, but started the eighth and failed miserably allowing three runs to score. He was replaced by Rhiner Cruz who pitched a perfect rest of the inning.
Offense
Matt Downs hit a two run homerun and Justin Maxwell hit a solo homerun. Jose Altuve and Matt Dominguez were the other hitters to collect multiple hits.
Defense
Chris Snyder actually caught Juan Pierre twice trying to steal second, the first time Pierre was called safe the second time he was called out. Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz also collected stolen bases off Snyder and Gonzalez and Rodriguez.
