Astros Minor League Recap: August 2, 2012

It's always exciting to see a young prospect dominate! Especially when they are coming off of a surgery like Tommy John.

That's exactly what Vincent Velasquez did last night. He's putting in a great season and assuring fans that he's still the pitcher that got him drafted in the second round. He tied his season best in strikeouts last night with eight in his six shutout innings. The downside is that he also tied his season worst in walks as well with three. The dominating aspect? Oh, how about just two hits given up? He had to work out of a few jams with runners in scoring position at one point but he held it together to get out of the inning and keep pitching.
