Remember that scouting report on DDJ that I posted yesterday? Remember how I highlighted him briefly on his home runs and stolen bases? Dude hit another one yesterday! There's been no denying his improvements at the plate this season when it came to his average and his walk rate, but there wasn't much to brag about with his power improvements. His improvements with strikeouts has been marginal as well. But, those strikeouts may be the only thing you can point to as a marginal improvement now. His ISO last season was .102 and this year it has now jumped up to .136! For much of the season it was hovering around the same line as last season but it has now jumped up with his power surge. His OPS is now over .800 for the season. AWESOME!
The other note is on Adrian Houser. He struggled with his control in the 3rd inning as he gave up two walks to the first two hitters. But other than that, he pitched very well and showed a lot of poise. I know AppyAstros was at the game and is going to post an eye witness report on the game at some point today, if he hasn't already. I'm writing this at 6 AM, so it very well could be up already by the time this posts. In his small sample, he's improved his GB% a lot and dropped his BB% by about 5% from his time in Greeneville last year. His FIP is a full run better this season so far versus his time in Greeneville. Houser looks to be taking a big step forward so far this year.
