Astros Minor League Recap

A day after the CC Hooks offense goes nuts for 16 runs, they completely got shut-out (kinda like the A.L.) It was just a bad overall performance by the team.

But, we can always count on Folty to pull things out for us and put a up a great game to keep us excited. He posted a Game Score of 70, which is one of his best of the year, second to only his second start which had a GS of 72. He not only limited hits to just four, but he also didn't walk anybody (he did hit a batter). He did last only six innings which is definitely not one of his longest starts, but I'll take six innings of shut-out ball any day. I'll especially take it when it includes six strikeouts and a 7/2 groundout to flyout ratio.

Delino DeShields Jr. also had a very noteworthy game. Not only did he pull his typical DDJ single followed by a steal, he then turned around and took third base. Ok, he does that a good bit. But, he also turned on one and hit one very deep over the LF fence. He's up to 65 stolen bases and seven home runs. He's just two shy of tying last years HR numbers and one from last years doubles numbers. He's already passed his triples from last season by one and made a mockery of his SB numbers from last year as well.

I linked to this in the comments of yesterday's recap, but it was later in the day, so I'll do it again because it deserves it. It's The Grand Old Game's scouting report on DDJ that was just posted yesterday. It's very in-depth and really shows the type of talent he really has. Although, it also shows you just how raw this kid remains in every aspect of the game. The last part was really interesting to me as it talked about his makeup and the night and day difference in his attitude from last year to this year. Oh, the difference a year can make.
