Day Two is in the books and it was filled with exciting risks and safe picks that still draw interest. So far, this draft looks great. Let's see how the third and final day breaks down as it will mostly be guys we've never heard of. But, this we do know, there will be one that we will follow very closely. Today is the day that Bobby Heck makes his mystical 20th round selection!
Despite going 3-1 last night in the minors, there's not a whole lot to discuss in depth. But, Jason Chowning did make his debut for Lancaster last night. He came in what was supposed to be a non-pressure situation in the ninth with the team up four runs, but he made it interesting. He finished the inning unscathed, but it was rough. He said he got the jitters out, so I think he'll have a much prettier outing next time. Lancaster has a rattling reputation that can affect every pitcher at one point or another, but the strong fight through it. Jason will fight through.
Minor League All-Star teams are beginning to get announced and the South Atlantic League was the first to get their rosters out there. On the pitching side, Mike Foltynewicz, Nicholas Tropeano, Carlos Quevedo, and Chowning were named to the team. On the other side, almost the whole infield made it with 1B Zachary Johnson, 2B Delino DeShields Jr, and 3B Matt Duffy. Congratulations to them on a solid season so far. It's nice to see some of the minor leaguers getting some recognition.
