Even though there was a lot of losing last night (3-5), it was a pretty good day in the minors. Really take some time to look through the notables from Lexington. The offense was great! Then take some time with the pitching from the short-season leagues, most notably Aaron West. I'm working on getting some quotes and information on him right now. There's not a lot out there for 17th round picks. Although, for him we know he wants to be in the FBI if baseball doesn't work out and had an elbow surgery to clean things up in his sophomore season.
I got an email yesterday with a first hand account from Jarred Cosart's start on Sunday that I figured ya'll would want to hear about. Cosart was consistently hitting 97 MPH on the radar gun and Frisco hitters had trouble making solid contact. Two of the four hits were infield hits in which one was of Jonathan Singleton's glove and rolled foul and the other didn't make it past the pitchers mound. Not exactly actual hits. The guy who emailed me said he was able to visit with one of the many scouts in attendance about Cosart. The scout was with the Dodgers and didn't have any concerns about the health of Cosart's arm. As for control, he started to lose it once for a little while recovered nicely.
He also said that Kevin Chapman looked great despite the 2-run home run that he gave up after getting two outs in his third inning of work.
