Astros Minor League Recap May 1st, 2012

Overall there wasn't a whole lot of positives to pull from yesterday's games as all three teams that played lost. Brett Oberholtzer made his first start for Oklahoma City and only allowed one run through his first 5 innings, but was pulled after giving up 2 runs in the 6th while recording just 1 out. An inherited runner would also score to bring his final line to 4 earned in 5 1/3.

Kody Hinze kept his recent power surge going for the Hooks by hitting a 3-run homer in the 1st. Unfortunately their wasn't that much else going for the Hooks at the plate or on the mound.

Lexington's offense had a big day in an extra inning affair at the plate, but fell just short. Delino DeShields stole 3rd base twice, and ended the day with 3 steals. Mike Kvasnicka hit a 3-run homer for his first of the year, and ended the day with 3 hits. The players of the game for the Legends though was Carlos Quevedo and Jason Chowning who combined to throw 6 innings of shutout relief with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Jason Chowning has yet to allow an earned run this season in his 13.1 innings of work.
