The biggest story of the night, happens to be one in which the Corpus Christi Hooks are on the wrong end of. Edwar Cabrera, a pitcher for the Tulsa Drillers, took a perfect game into the 9th inning before giving up a lead-off single to Chris Wallace. Cabrera was immediately pulled, but Wallace would be the only one to reach base.
On a more positive note, Lancaster dominated last night in route to a blowout win. Not a Rangers-Red Sox blowout, but a solid blowout. There are three things to highlight from the big win. First, Domingo Santana returned to lineup and launched a home run and drew a walk, but also struck out twice. If your counting, that's one hit and seven strikeouts in just fourteen plate appearances. It's a small sample size, but it's still ugly. Second story is that Adam Bailey also hit a home run, and hopefully this will be the kick start he's been looking for. Bailey made it all the way up to Corpus last year for a few games in a semi-breakout year, but has struggled to start this season. The last headline is that Ruben Alaniz had a good game. Alaniz escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and then allowed three runs in the second inning. But, he then settled in and started sitting hitters down. He ended up lasting six innings and striking out seven. It looks like he may end up being one of the few pitchers that can survive from Lancaster.
