Going into this season, much was made of where several starting pitching prospects were going to end up in the lower levels with the likes of Jonas Dufek, Kyle Hallock, Nick Tropeano, Mike Foltynewicz, Tanner Bushue, Adrian Houser, and a handful more. With the majority ending up in Lexington, the rotation has a bit of a following and thus far, it's been a little disappointing. Hallock's start is something I'll choose to ignore, but Tropeano's relief appearance I won't ignore. The rain out on opening day made some changes in the rotation and forced Trope into action today since he was originally scheduled to pitch today. But, he came into the game in relief and shined against a lineup that included Rick Ankiel and Michael Morse on rehab assignments. But, that didn't phase him as he picked up ten strikeouts including a strikeout on each of the two major leaguers.
In the same game, DDJ continues to put up good numbers at Lexington and even provided a little power with a double. But, he still isn't catching up to Austin Wates ridiculously good looking start. But, even with Wates raking, Jacob Goebbert stole the show last night for Corpus thanks to a walk-off home run!
Final story on the day is that the Lancaster JetHawks broke out into the win column with a shutout victory off the stellar start from Wes Musick and bat of Jonathan Meyer.
