Winning streaks are great.
The last time the Astros had a two game winning streak was against the Colorado Rockies in back to back fashion September 22-23. I know Spring Training games don't mean anything, but this feels good.
Offense
The Martinez's really put on a show today. J.D. Martinez was 1-2 with a walk, two runs scored, four runs batted, three of which came on homerun in the third inning with two outs. Fernando Martinez had a three run homerun in the fourth inning with two outs and finished the day 2-2 with a walk as well. Chris Snyder tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning with a solo shot and ended the day 1-2 with a walk. Overall the Astros had five hits and seven walks.
Pitching
J.A. Happ started the game allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk in two innings pitched. Henry Sosa would follow Happ with two scoreless innings. Paul Clemens, Fernando Rodriguez and David Carpenter each pitched scoreless innings of their own. Lucas Harrell pitched the sixth and seventh inning allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk. That's three runs in two games which is certainly nice to see.
Defense
The Astros remain error free through two games. Nothing notable from the boxscore. However, Jake Goebbert did have a nice diving catch in right field in the ninth inning.
Monday's Game
12:05 p.m. CST against the Atlanta Braves at home. No televised broadcast but will be available on KBME 790.
