Jose Cisnero is putting it together! In his five starts this month, all but one have been quality starts. Two of those starts had nine strikeouts and two had eleven strikeouts! He can be filthy when he attacks hitters. The one start was pretty bad, where he gave up five runs without getting out of the first inning. For the month, he has struck out fourty while walking ten in 25 1/3 innings. He has posted the second lowest ERA (4.26) by month, although the month with a lower ERA had a worse walk rate and lower strikeout totals in one extra start.
The main point of that is that this has been his best month. Other than the one start, he's been more consistent this month and is riding a three game streak. The sky is the limit for him with a fastball as good as his, he just has to figure it out mentally. When he's aggressive he puts up silly numbers and this month looks like he's putting it together. I have said it before, Lancaster is a tough place, but if you can figure it out in Lancaster, you are a major league pitcher because you handled about the biggest adversity you're going to handle. He has a special arm and it looks like he's going to be a special pitcher.
The only real knock on him is that he doesn't pitch deep into games and doesn't have a strong groundball rate. But, you can live with the groundball rate when he can sit a guy down without putting the ball into play. He's understanding the aggressive part right now, and next year he can focus on the groundball and pitching more efficiently. Either way, he can be a Bud Norris type pitcher for me any day of the week.
