Astros Minor League Recap

A couple of quick thoughts as I fill in with today's minor league recap. First of all, it appears that Jonathan Villar is making his case to join former double play partner Jose Altuve in the majors once/if Clint Barmes is traded. Of course, Villar has had no success compared to what Altuve did in the minors this season, so I doubt it happens. But, Villar did have a nice game Wednesday.

Also, one of the pitchers acquired in the Keppinger deal made his debut with the Astros, as Jason Stoffel pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout against Midland. Dallas Keuchel made another nice start, showing that he may deserve a call-up too if Wandy or Myers are traded. Don't think that will happen either, but Keuchel's a lot more likely than Villar.

One last thing: DDJ is having a nice July, hitting .321/.389/.339. If he can keep his on-base percentage around that point, he'll be valuable as a prospect even if the power doesn't come. He's also been stealing bases much more efficiently since the All-Star break, swiping 12 on 13 attempts.

Let's go through the rest of the minor leagues (except OKC, who had the night off, unexpectedly..)
