Astros Minor League Recap: POTW

Players of the week time!

Hitter of the Week: Austin Wates

It's a difficult decison this week with JD Martinez's power showing up with his three home runs, but Wates had five multi-hit games and has a four game multi-hit streak going right now.  His 12 for 26 including four doubles, two triples, and a home run solidifies himself as the winner.  He struck out just twice while walking once this week as well.  He has to be the leader of this team now with the loss of Hinze, but he has stepped it up since and is showing he can do so.  He also received a little help with the promotion of Adam Bailey.

Pitcher of the Week: Jake Buchanan

Anytime you carry a no-no into the seventh inning, you deserve recognition.  His seven and a third inning in which he allowed three hits, three runs (two earned), one walk and three strikeouts, get his name here.  This was in Lancaster too, so it was a very good outing for him.

Jose Altuve Award: Jose Altuve

The big guy only played four games this week and went 4 for 16 with a double, three walks, and three strikeouts while getting caught stealing once as well.  It's a down week for him but he's also been getting some work at third base which could be occupying his concentration.  He left for the Futures Game yesterday and is getting the start in that game for the World team today.
