I'm pinch-hitting for Subber10 for the rest of this week (all two days of it), so bear with me...

Boy, Wednesday was a night for debuts. I guess the farm system got all excited about Jordan Lyles making his major league debut, so they figured to roll out some big days for guys all through the system.

Let's start out with the big two, as Jonathan Villar and Jose Altuve both got promoted to the Texas League and Corpus Christi. They debuted on the same infield as Jimmy Paredes, with the infielder acquired in the Lance Berkman deal last July sliding over to third, as Villar started at short and Altuve at second.

Neither disappointed all you Astros fans out there, as both Villar and Altuve hit home runs. Add in two steals for Paredes, who now has 20 on the season, and Houston's infield at Corpus actually looks talented. Imagine that.

On down the line, 2010 14th round draft pick Jordan Scott made his full season debut, going 1 for 3 for Lexington and starting in left field. Scott was drafted out of high school in South Carolina last summer, debuting with the Gulf Coast League Astros and hitting a respectable .301/.370/.370 in 42 games and 146 at-bats.

Another prospect added recently into the system made his debut in the Dominican Summer League. Right-hander Geronimo Franzua threw six solid innings, allowing three hits and no runs for the DSL Astros. The 17-year old had been pitching at the Astros' Dominican Academy after signing for $250,000 last year.
