Astros Minor League Recap

Well it's about time we have a good night in the minors!  Every team that played picked up a win.  Lexington had a rain delay that prevented the game from starting and eventually post-poned the game.  But, Lancaster won by a large margin while the RedHawks and Hooks won by a combined four runs.

OkC relied more on a three pitchers to have solid games while the Hooks relied on pitching but the offense is really what came through for them.  Lancaster relied on their bullpen to keep a big lead that that the offense was able to build.  Much of that lead came from that bat of Jose Altuve who had a great game in the three-hole and Kody Hinze who hit his California League leading eleventh home run of the season.  With both of those guys hitting so well, how long do they stay in Lancaster?  We know that Paredes is partially responsible for blocking Altuve, but what is blocking Hinze?  Is it really the non-prospect Jimmy Van Ostrand?  He's hitting well despite not being a prospect.

Oklahoma City won 5-2

  • Danny Meszaros-1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO-Picked up his first save.  It's telling that the manager already is comfortable with him in the closers role despite some hickup already.  He probably won't be in CC for very long.
