Minors under way: I know I wasn't the only one to be glad that the minor league season is finally upon us. I was also very glad to see Subber's recaps return, as they're one of my favorite parts of the morning on TCB. Of course, being the rabid minor league fan I am, I had a few quick thoughts on last night's games.
First, here's my breakdown of Jordan Lyles' first start with Oklahoma City. It's not as bad as you might expect from just the stat line, so that's a good thing. Another pitcher who had a surprisingly good line? Mike Foltynewicz. The big teenager may have gotten hit around, but he also had an 11-1 ground ball/fly ball ratio. The strikeouts will come, but I'll take that ground ball rate every day of the week.
There was also a lot to like about Lancaster's shutout victory. My boy Jose Cisnero was very good, striking out nine with eight of those swinging strikeouts. He also only gave up one line drive all night, so it was a very nice start to the pitching season for the JetHawks.
Offensively, both Jonathan Meyer and Erik Castro did a nice job coming off disappointing campaigns. Castro missed all of last season with an injury while Meyer just didn't hit a lick all season. Meyer started at third base while Castro DHed, but Meyer was the offensive star, going 3 for 4 with two doubles. Castro was 1 for 2 with two runs scored, a double and two walks. They both lead the minor league system in wOBA at .845 right now (huge sample size, there!). Hope that fast start continues for both of them.

If you are standing between him and the buffet line, maybe.
Finally, "Best Reaction To The Win"
And that is exactly one more win than the Red Sux.
Eat it, New Englanders.
