The little Astros finished 2-2 yesterday. Both of the wins came from the younger two clubs but the other two clubs made it competitive at least. TJ Steele continued his hitting and JD Martinez did what he does best. Pitching wasn't great yesterday but the bats were alive. I felt the Lancaster box score took me forever to write with so many batters being notable.
But, I want to notate one guy in particular. The one that many people have been down on because of his lackluster first full season. The one that so many people were high on after his debut in short-season ball which was phenomenal. Have you figured it out? It's Jiovanni Mier! He hit a homerun for the second night in a row and the third one in the past ten games. His OPS for the season is .865 and is over 1.000 for the past ten games. That's legitimate hitting. To provide that kind of production from his premium defensive position is great. I'm not going to get too excited yet, but the fact he is showing something is a very good sign.
