I will be joining Astros County at the Round Rock Express game again tonight, so if you have anything particular you want to know about a specific prospect, let me know. I'll do the best I can to give a second report from the game. The first one is coming out later today. RR hasn't posted who is pitching yet, but if I'm right, Yorman Bazardo should be on the hump. That makes me a little excited since I actually like him as a pitcher.
I want to talk a little about Jake Goebbert real briefly. The 22 year-old's stats don't scream prospect the way J.D. Martinez's stats did, but he has been impressing in his own right in the month of July. He doesn't have the .800+ OPS that we'd like to see from a corner outfielder, but he's been improving. I'd like to see some more walks from a college guy but it is his first full season as a pro and was just drafted last year. He did also knock five homeruns in July and has really turned it on since J.D.'s promotion. I can see him putting up some ridiculous numbers next year in Lancaster to the point he could warrant a mid-season call-up to CC. I see him as nothing more than a 4th/5th OFer at best, but I can see him turning into a Collin DeLome type player.
