I may as well create a Word document, save that title and have it ready to use every time Wainwright faces the Astros. Like seemingly every time before tonight, Adam Wainwright was simply masterful. His curveball was outstanding, and Astros hitters were kept off balance all night long. Each team collected three hits on the night, but only Albert Pujols' first inning double resulted in any runs being scored.
Wandy Rodriguez was oustanding as well- needing only 93 pitches to get through seven innings. He exited after allowing three hits, one walk while striking out six in those seven innings of work. Based on the final score of 1-0, you may have thought that Roy O was on the mound tonight but this was Wandy's turn to feel the wrath of our poor offensive attack.
For the eighth time this season, the Astros failed to score a run. Hunter Pence and Miguel Tejada continued their slumping ways and Kaz Matsui seems destined to be mired in his current slump for the rest of eternity. This may just be another loss in a long, fairly uneventful season, but it's disheartening nonetheless.
But onward and upward says I. Roy O will be handed the ball tomorrow in hopes of getting the Astros back to their winning ways of last week.
