With the draft less than a week away, everyone, it seems, is putting up a mock draft. And being a diehard Astros fan, I pretty much only look to see who the Astros are "projected" to pick and disregard everyone else. So I thought I'd collect predictions from a number of mock drafts and put them all in one place for everyone.
Even though there's consensus about who is going #1 overall, beyond that, the talent levels are relatively flat for a good number of picks. And given that most of the people putting together these things don't have very deep knowledge about every ballclub's draft boards (heck, even I don't know much about my own ballclub's boards) these mocks are all pretty much crapshoots. As you can see, there's very little consensus or even overlap about who we will take or even what kind of player. But they're fun anyway, and take them all with a large heap of salt.
The one mock draft I would suggest keeping your eye on is Baseball America's. Jim Callis typically does a good job of scrounging up rumors and talking to scouting personnel, and so the closer we get to draft day, the more accurate his mock drafts get, particularly in the top half of the first round.
