The pool of effective FA starting pitchers is nearly empty as Braden Loooper is set to sign with the Brewers. Thanks to brewcrewball for the link. This appears to be a value signing in the $5 million range which may have an effect on the NL Central. From the Brewers' standpoint, their rotation doesn't look so wobbly anymore. And, from the Cardinals' standpoint, their rotation will be missing a productive starter. Looper isn't a top of the rotation type starter, but he is helpful enough to fit into that overused label of "innings eater."
