Steinbrenner Blames the NL Rules

I think this almost makes losing 3 games to the Yankees worth it.  Not that Wang got hurt(because I would never wish an injury on anyone... other than maybe Angel Hernandez), but because of these comments.  Hilarious.

Here are some of Steinbrenner's comments after Chien-Ming Wang was hurt in the series against the Astros whle running bases.

“My only message is simple,” Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. “The National League needs to join the 21st century. They need to grow up and join the 21st century.”

Steinbrenner said he was angry and added: “I’ve got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He’s going to be out. I don’t like that, and it’s about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s.”

And my only message is simple... you grow up and stop being a pansy.  Grow up and join the 21st century???  Baseball is a sport!! If your players cannot do normal activities like running... that's not the fault of the National League.  NL pitchers do that on a daily basis and very, very few ever get hurt running the bases.

THIS IS BASEBALL!!!!  This is a sport where players are supposed to play offense and defense.  I'm sorry that your players are too fragile to do physical activity.  I haven't played baseball(or softball) in probably 2-3 years, and I guarantee you that I could go outside right now and run bases without getting hurt.

The fact that he's blaming the NL for their rules is a joke...  this just comes off as whining to me.  I'm sorry your player got hurt... but don't blame the NL for their rules and don't start making derogatory comments towards the NL because we still play baseball the way it was intended to be played.  Get a life.
