Chris Sampson takes the hill today against Tim Lincecum. Lincecum is by far the best Giants pitcher so far this season, and it hasn't been close. Of the Giants starters with more than 1 game started, Lincecum is the only one with more than 2 wins, and less than a 4.00 ERA. In his 7 starts this season, he has yet to give up more than 3 runs, and yet to last less than 6 innings. Well... there's a 1st time for everything!

Sampson on the other hand is having a down season. In his 7 starts this season, he has only lasted 6 innings 3 times and has given up 5 runs or more in 3 of his 7 starts. But on the bright side, his last game out he went 7 full innings and didn't yield a run... so maybe he's turning the corner? Well see...

The Astros will be without Miguel Tejada today who is scheduled to sit for the 1st time this season... I'm not a real big fan of him sitting(since he is a guy who likes to play every day and really doesn't want to sit), but hopefully it will benefit him.

The Astros are still in 3rd place behind the Cardinals and Cubs; both teams in action today as well. A win today for the Astros and losses for the Cards and Cubs would put the Astros in 2nd place, 1/2 a game behind the Cubbies. A win today would also make it 4 straight series wins for the Astros and put them 6 games above .500.
