I know... you're all as tired of Roger Clemens and steroids and McNamee as I am, but truth be told... if we just talked about Astros during this off season, we might have something interesting to talk about once a month.
On to the point. One day after Clemens talked on to Congress for over 5 hours, McNamee's suits are now saying that McNamee has "physical evidence" that proves Roger Clemens used steroids. Wha? Yea... His lawyers are claiming that McNamee knew that Roger would deny using steroids later on, so he kept the vials, needles, and even blood soaked gauze pads used to inject Clemens up to prove this later on.
Here's the story from the LA Times.
The New York Daily News, in a report on its website, said it was told by an anonymous source that the evidence includes vials with traces of steroids and human growth hormone, blood-stained syringes and gauze pads that may contain the seven-time Cy Young Award winner's DNA.OK... something here seems really odd. If this McNamee and Clemens were such good friends back then, wouldn't McNamee have been one to hide this kind of stuff so that it couldn't be found? This just sounds all too suspicious to me. Now I'm not saying Roger is innocent and that McNamee is lying... but this is just too weird to me.
The trainer, Brian McNamee, kept the evidence from the 2000 and 2001 seasons out of fear Clemens would deny use of the drugs if the issue was ever investigated, the Daily News reported.
Obviously Clemens' lawyers released a statement today saying that this was false and that the evidence is tampered with Yada Yada Yada.
On 790AM today on my way home, one of the callers went as far as to say that he thinks Roger and McNamee are in on this together and that using this evidence(which any good lawyer will be able to prove at least reasonable doubt about) is a way to clear both Roger and McNamee. It's like a bad episode of CSI basically.
Oh, one more thing... another quote from the article from McNamee's lawyers.
"Brian has told the truth from the beginning, and as Jesus said, the truth shall set you free."Wow... this coming from a scumbag like McNamee's people... just Wow.
Well that's all... just had to at least mention it.
I can't wait until Spring Training...
