The Astros' Mike Hampton signing - Day Two

Some bold words from Hampton:

If I can pitch 200 innings, everything else will fall into place

Shouldn't he think about 150 IP 120 IP...something he hasn't done in four years, first.

I like his confidence though...hopefully the MRI machines do too.

While we wait for Hampton's physical (do you think professional athletes have to turn their heads and cough?) here's a tid bit to ponder:

Hampton opted for a slightly lesser deal with Houston that includes an opportunity to make about $2 million in additional incentives based on staying healthy and making starts, according to the two people familiar with the situation. He is going through a divorce and wanted to be closer to his children in Arizona.

Just goes to show that their are all kinds of other factors at play in the free agent market.
