The Astros signed their first arbitration-eligible player on Friday, inking right-hander Brandon Backe to a one-year deal worth $800,000 plus incentives.
I'm kind of surprised it was for that low.. I figured it would be at least 1.5 million or so, but the contract says it's + incentives and I can only imagine that the incentives are pretty good. I'm curious to see exactly how much he could make this season if he reaches all of his incentives.
Hopefully Backe can stay healthy. It's nice having a player with his love for the game, and love for playing in the city of houston. He's also one of the spark plugs for the team and also one of the only players left over from the previous years.
