Wood Williams VS Jo-Jo Reyes
Woody Williams | Jo-Jo Reyes |
5 - 12, 5.14 | 0 - 1, 8.20 |
Jo-Jo Reyes huh? I find it odd that a MLB pitcher goes by the name of Jo-Jo, but I guess it could be worse. Aging veteran Woody Williams takes on struggling rookie Jo-Jo Reyes who in his 4 career games in the majors has logged 18.2 innings and given up 17 ER. This bodes well for the Astros who have been out scored 7 to 24 in the last two games against the Braves, dropping both in pretty much the same fashion.
Yesterday Wandy started for the Astros and raised his Away ERA to 8.16! What's amazing is that his home ERA is 1.76. I wonder if any starter in the majors has a higher differential between home and away starts. At home, Wandy is the ace of the staff... away, Wandy is the 4th pitcher of the Single-A Astros. Seems like this is in his head now. Last night Wandy might have gotten squeezed on a few of the ball/strike calls, but as a major league pitcher, you have to be able to adjust... Wandy just didn't adjust and gave up 7 quick runs on only 4 hits. Hopefully Woody doesn't take any of Wandy's bad habits.
Was reading some news sites today and seen this from Morgan Ensberg(who is by the way, very happy to be in San Diego):
"I am 100 percent feeling great," he said. "The shoulder is zero reason for my play. The situation in Houston was that other guys, Mike Lamb and Mark Loretta, were playing well and I was getting phased out. When I started getting only a few at-bats a week, I went into the tank."
From here.
I call BS! Morgan has been a bad hitter for the last 2 season... he can't blame his lack of production on that... maybe that's just his excuse.
This just in... Morgan Ensberg today with the Padres is 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI's! WE GOT CHEATED!
