Righthander Juan Gutierrez joined the Astros on Friday from Class AAA Round Rock to replace lefthander Stephen Randolph, who was put on the disabled list with a strain of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.Link
Gutierrez, who will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game, went 5-9 with a 3.96 ERA in 24 games (23 starts) for the Express.
My first thought is... why not Patton? Hopefully Gutierrez does well, but I'd still like to see what Patton can do as well(and of course Towles).
In other news, all of those hoping the Astros would take a swing at signing the "Evil Z" just got their hopes shots as he signs a 5 year, 91.5 million contract extension with the Cubs. Thanks to TBurford for pointing that out here.
