After Biggio struck out early on, I wrote something like, "the magic's gone," but obviously I was drawing the wrong conclusion, because the magic seems alive and well.
The team had never before won back-to-back games on walkoff homers.
Mark Loretta had one homer on the year; he had one career walkoff homer.
Needless to say Fuentes--who ain't Billy Wagner, but also ain't David Weathers--had never given up game-losing homers in consecutive games.
So the odds were long as Loretta stepped in.
