Roy Oswalt | Jarrod Washburn |
6 - 4, 3.44 | 5 - 5, 3.87 |
Our Ace on the staff, Roy Oswalt goes out today to try and earn his first decision in 3 starts and his first win in 6. His mound opponent tonight Jarrod Washburn is a reputable foe with a nice ERA(3.87) but a .500 W/L record this season at 5-5. The Astros are going for their first 3 game series sweep of the season and have looked very good in the last 2 games winning by 4 runs or more in each and scoring at least 5 runs in the last 3 games.
Over the last 7 days, if I asked you who the hottest Astro hitter was, you'd probably without hesitating say Mike Lamb who's gone 9 for 12 in the last 3 games(.750 batting average). Well if that was your guess, you'd be wrong... badly. The best hitter over the last week has been light hitting Brad Ausmus who is batting .611 (Lamb .455) over the 7 days with a home run, 7 RBI's(team most for the week),a double and 3 runs scored. Not too shabby for a 38 year old catcher with a bad back.
Who's been bad? Hunter Pence and Morgan Ensberg... Pence over the last 7 days is 5 for 29(.172 avg) while Ensberg is 2 for 13(.154 avg) with a home run.
