Doug Davis Wandy Rodriguez
2 - 3, 2.36 0 - 3, 4.66

Funny how the mind works. This morning as I was watering my lawn, I'm thinking to myself, Doug Davis, shit. He always gave us trouble when he was with the Brewers. . . one of those lefties we could never hit . . . .

Um, no.

Looking it up now, Davis is lifetime 3 - 10 vs. the Astros with a 4.52 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. Almost a hit an inning (89 over 95-2/3) means we've hit him quite well, as a matter of fact.

I guess as baseball fans we're always a little bit paranoid, always think the opposition is a little bit better than they really are.

Davis' record against current Astros is also interesting in that Jason Lane has a 1.054 career OPS off Davis, and Lamb has a 1.300. Lane should play, and will because of the platoon split. Considering that Ensberg carries an .854 career OPS off Davis--and that Mikey received the not inconsiderable Game Hero last night--Lamb should probably play, as well. But he might not, because of the same platoon split that will get Lane the nod.

Can Garner get past the platoon split, and go with the numbers?

Berkman has .997 OPS off Davis, and of all people, Roy Oswalt has a 1.071. 3 for 7 with a double for Royboy off Davis. I know who I'm wanting off the bench first. . . .

So, Astros. Go out and kick some Doug Davis ass today, as you so often do.
