For Chris Sampson to come back and pitch the way he did tonight after getting his ass handed to him on a plate in Philly exhibits so much competitive desire and so much toughness, it's hard for me to imagine we should be talking about anything else.
Pence had the best at bat you'll ever see from a rookie who struck out looking, and scored the first of what we hope will be many major league runs; Berkman had his first three hit game of the year, finally.
Biggio had another huge extra base hit, and even Brad Lidge pitched well.
This is all welcome news.
But the story is Sampson, his toughness, and his sinker that wasn't just coaxing ground balls, but was surprisingly enough, racking up the strikeouts as well.
