Good news: the 2007 PECOTA projections have been released by Baseball Prospectus.
They made me promise not to give it all away, but I didn't think they'd mind if I showed you OBP and SLG for guys likely to play in the majors in '07:
Name | OBP | SLG | OPS |
---|---|---|---|
Lance Berkman | .421 | .573 | .994 |
Carlos Lee | .359 | .530 | .889 |
Morgan Ensberg | .374 | .484 | .858 |
Luke Scott | .353 | .495 | .848 |
Brooks Conrad | .345 | .493 | .838 |
Hunter Pence | .338 | .489 | .827 |
Jason Lane | .331 | .475 | .806 |
Chris Burke | .348 | .452 | .800 |
Mike Lamb | .338 | .461 | .799 |
Eric Munson | .314 | .448 | .762 |
Craig Biggio | .322 | .413 | .735 |
Mark Loretta | .341 | .388 | .729 |
Charlton Jimerson | .287 | .434 | .721 |
Humberto Quintero | .304 | .397 | .701 |
Eric Bruntlett | .323 | .369 | .692 |
Hector Gimenez | .307 | .385 | .692 |
Adam Everett | .302 | .385 | .687 |
Josh Anderson | .311 | .357 | .668 |
Eli Iorg | .278 | .376 | .654 |
Orlando Palmeiro | .298 | .336 | .634 |
Brad Ausmus | .296 | .294 | .590 |
For comparison, when Baseball Think Factory had released their ZIPS projections in November, they had seen Berkman at a .972 OPS, and Morgan at .844.
So I guess I have to say that I like this set of prognostications.
Which reminds me: I was wondering whether something like the "Community Projections" you see here and there across the blogosphere might work here. I was even wondering whether we could turn it into some kind of a contest with a prize to be awarded from my vast trove of Astro baseballcardiana.
Let me know what you think . . . .
