Jimerson

The official site suggested that the Astros "found a potential big bat off the bench for their stretch run in Charlton Jimerson," but that's I think unfair to Jimerson, who is a defensive ace, but is much too likely to whiff to see many at-bats in meaningful situations.

Although, as StrosDux suggested, the Jimerson-Taveras-Bruntlett late inning defensive outfield seems smokin' fast and scary good.

Anyway, congrats to Charlton, former Hurricane and MVP of the 2001 College World Series, now at least the answer to a trivia question at the next level:

A Complete List of Astros Who Homered in Their First Major League At Bat
Player Position Date Inning Opponent Pitcher
Jose Sosa Pitcher July 30, 1975 8 San Diego Frisella
David Matranga Pinch-Hitter June 27, 2003 5 Texas Benoit
Charlton Jimerson Pinch-Hitter September 4, 2006 6 Philadelphia Hamels

It was a monster freaking shot.
