The Houston Astros announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Brandon Backe to a one-year, $545,000 contract, plus incentives.
Maybe I'm just being childish, but the whole "plus incentives" part of that contract makes me laugh. What is the incentive? If he pitches one inning he'll get a boost? If he doesn't sit on his tail all year long and eat ice cream and pizza they'll double his salary? Kind of funny... but I'm glad they did it.
Also, Springer signed a 1 year 1.75 million dollar contract with the Cardinals. Looks like we're turning into a good hitting, poor pitching team. Hopefully we can at least be the good hitting part... maybe?
