Ray Lankford Wing of the Hall of Fame

Recognition of a sort for Mr. 20/50

The banks of numbers could probably do with some explanation, but I couldn't help but notice the inclusion of several important Astros in The Ray Lankford Wing of the Hall of Fame over at Beyond the Boxscore.

The RLWotHoF, conceived somewhat jocularly as a place to honor those who had great careers, yet still were not Hall-worthy, is based almost entirely on sabermetrics that I am not familiar with at all.  But I do recognize that these things, if not always understandable to me, are grounded in quantifiable facts.

And the appearance of Astros on these various lists of distinction always makes me happy.

Mr. Normandin--or rather his method of analysis--has Jose Cruz as sixth most worthy among leftfielders, and Cesar Cedeño as fifth among centerfielders.

Ken Caminiti is in the mix at third, and two old Colt .45 pitchers--Don McMahon and Dave Giusti--are also included, although largely for things they did with other teams, I would imagine.

Figured I'd pass it along, and those more statistically astute than me may very well have some insights. . . .
