Game Hero, Astros Lead NLCS 2 - 1

Mike Lamb
  • 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBI, 2B, HR
  • Drove in the icebreaker, and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth.
  • Ties Chris Burke for the team lead in 2005 postseason homers
  • Good effort on plays that didn't turn out so well, also
Laid out on Nuñez' grounder in the fifth, but it just got past him, and
hit the ball on a rope hard in the seventh, but got the unlucky DP.

A clearly fading Roger Clemens left just in time, and Jason Lane came through at the perfect moment to set Rocket up as the eventual victor.

Chad Qualls may have been as good as I've ever seen him, and Lidge battled some of his recurrent control problems, but in the end had enough luck and enough nastiness in his slider to retire Eckstein.

Houston will try to win only its third playoff game ever while holding a series lead tomorrow at 4:00 Eastern. And if that victory should come, it'll be much, much bigger than either Game Two of the 1981 Division Series or The Chris Burke Game.

Backe vs. Suppan, in a matchup of number fours for control of the championship series.

I think I'll find the time to watch.
