busy day at work
Astros leading 2-1 on a Lorretta RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring Blum who had doubled.
Berkman homered in the first. Jays answered in the 2nd, with a 2-out RBI single from Luna.
in the top of the 3rd, Roy's got a man on 3rd with one out. he's allowed 4 hits so far, with a run scored and a K. no walks.

Comment on cuts
so just keeping score, that leaves 22 pitchers (5 NRIs), 9 OF (4 NRIs and that includes Newhan, who seems to have been getting most of his time in the infield), 7 IF (1 NRI), and 6 C (3 NRIs), for a total of 44 players. we'll need to cut 10 more pitchers and 9 more position players.
in the game, the Jays took the lead in the 3rd, with Roy giving up 3 hits in the inning. Astros tied it in the bottom on Berkman's triple (yeah, you heard that right... good aggressive baserunning got him the hard half of the cycle) and Lee's sac fly. Roy blew through the 4th and is probably done for the day with 4 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 K, and no walks. Other Roy also makes it 4 IP, with a similar line, just one less hit.
Randolph coming in to pitch the 5th.

7th inning
Randolph's inning was uneventful, getting his only baserunner (IF single) with a pickoff. Villarreal was solid for two innings as well, no baserunners. Guess he's yet to give up a run this spring over 5 IP.
7th just ended without a score. Gorneault, pinch running for Ausmus, was caught stealing in the inning.
4-3 Astros moving to the 8th.

None of the moves are all that surprising...
Does it have to do with helping all the P's still in camp?
James and Gervacio looked good. And at AA Corpus, they should get all the innings they can handle.
P.S. Any updates on the game?

House is also out
yet ANOTHER report on the main site about carrying three catchers. guess if they hang onto Q until a few weeks into the season, before the bullpen might really get strained, the chances of him getting claimed off waivers maybe are a little slimmer. i can see that logic. it'd be a shame to lose him, since the rest of our system depth at catcher is pretty weak.

9th inning
Geary worked around a leadoff single for the "save" (whatever that's worth in ST). nice work from the bullpen and a reasonably good outing from Roy. big game for Berkman, not only smacking the ball around the park, but running aggressively on the basepaths (run wouldn't have scored if he didn't take third in the 3rd), and getting his jersey dirty in the field.
no walks on either side of the ledger. Coop will like half of that statement.
Stros move to 5-8 on the Spring. head to Sarasota for a rare trip to play the Reds tomorrow.
