Houston Astros VS Atlanta Braves : Spring Training Game 3

Astros VS Braves12:05 p.m. CT.

Woody Williams VS Tom Glavine

Too early for any stats, but Bourn is 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base.

Kinda funny stuff from Roy-O and Berkman about giving them being willing to submit blood samples for HGH test.

In a nutshell, the test administrator is present, and watching, while the player is submitting his sample. Oswalt said he would rather give blood than have someone watch him urinate.

"If that's not an invasion of privacy, what is?" he said.

Berkman concurred.

"And stage fright's a real deal," he said. "If you can't go in front of somebody ... you just mentally lock up. I'd rather stick my arm out and they can take blood out of me all day long."
From here.

Still 3-3, bottom of 7th

6th, not 7th
On to the top of the 7th now, still 3-3.

Lots of changes - current defense is Abercrombie, Pence and Ramirez in the outfield, Perez, Manzella, Newhan, and Niekro on the infield, House catching and Gervacio pitching.

Line on Gervacio - 1 IP, 1 H, 2K

Gorneault...
is having a nice spring so far.

indeed
He has been really aggressive this game; especially this last play heading home on the high throw on Cruz

Top of the 9th
Line on James:
1 IP, 1 BB, and a pickoff

- note that that is our only walk of the game, thus far

very wild
Almost hits the next batter, gets to 3-1 and then walks him. 2 on, no out, top of the 9th.

5-5
Josh Anderson hits a single up the middle, driving in 2.

Reineke and Randolph...
didn't do anything to impress the skipper with that 9th inning melt down.  With Randolph's bad outing, keep an eye on the lefthanded relievers...none of the 3 (Randolph, McLemore, and Wright) and looked great so far.

7-5 Braves, final score
Everything looked pretty good barring Randolph and Reineke in the 9th, and Hernandez's shakiness (and HR). I've never liked Randolph. Can't believe we even invited him.

Cooper's quotes...
going into spring training indicated that he really likes Randolph and expected him to be a contributor to the major league team.  But, given how Cooper feels about walks, I'm sure he is unhappy with the 9th inning today.  I certainly had my doubts about Randolph's ability to help the major league team.

Randolph
He's terrible. Hope he's in the first cut group. We've had a bad habit of holding on to lousy pitchers tha last couple of years.

Wasn't he on the Mitchell Report?
I think if I used HGH I'd be able to pitch better than him...
