Who remembers this pitch? Sorry, I was digging around the internet and stumbled across. It's good to procrastinate again.

Apparently his finger is fine. Also, Valverde, Tejada, and Wandy are on the provisional roster for the Dominican Republic.

I wanted to post this after the altercation between one fearless leader, Ed Wade, and the choke slam resurrector Shawn Chacon. I just thought that the expressions on both of their faces were hilarious. I have an honest question, why is Ed Wade wearing that hat, he needs to dress more V.I.P. He needs to be more like Ted Leitner, and wear a suit everyday.

Semi-useless, I know, but if you're on "The Book" then become a fan and help rep us to your friends...or at least let them know how nerdy you are about your Houston Astros.

Like much of the Astros Hot Stove news my response is a shrug of my shoulders.

What is the most improbable streak in all of baseball?

HBT has some fun with binomial distributions to unearth the most unlikely scenario in the last 100 years of baseball. (Hint: It's not the Cubs title drought)

Where we are right now, our payroll is $107 million. Last year, we finished around $98 million. We're really up against our number at 107, and it's a number, quite frankly, that the revenues don't support.

Ed Wade, I'm calling B/S on that.

What's going on in Arlington?

Michael Young wants to be traded rather than be moved to third-base. Elvis Andrus is the heir apparent at short stop, but so far the veteran is reluctant to make another defensive switch. Astros fans have to be unfamiliar with this kind of situation on two fronts: 1) Knowing what it's like to have major league ready talent at the minor league level 2) Having a player ask/demand to be traded Young is likely to stay put in Texas, given that he is owed $62 million over the next five years. FanGraphs had him worth $7.5 million last season. For comparison's sake, based on the metrics used to determine real value, Miguel Tejada outpaced Young slightly at the plate and was dramatically better in the field in 2008.
