Kemp, Shirley, Nash shine for Corpus Christi, J.D. Davis has a nice offensive night and McCullers racks up some K's on the farm Saturday night.

AAA: Round Rock Express 3, Iowa Cubs 2

The Express got a win against a stacked Iowa team behind a solid start from Paul Clemens and Matt Duffy's eighth AAA homer. All five Express hits went for extra bases and the team stole five bases.

Conrad Gregor had the only multi-hit game last night for the Jethawks, who had contributions from Rio Ruiz and two steals from Teoscar Hernandez. Roberto Pena hit his sixth homer and did the catching for Lance McCullers, who struck out every batter he faced (six of 'em) in two innings of work. Kyle Westwood cleaned up with four innings of one run ball to earn the win.

High-A Short Season: Tri-City 9, Lowell Spinners (BOS) 4

It was a nice offensive night for the Valley Cats as J.D. Davis connected on his third homer, while Ryan Bottger hit his first as a pro. Bobby Boyd was on base three times at the leadoff spot, and the former West Virginia Mountaineer is hitting .375 with a nice K:BB ratio in his first taste of pro ball. Knuckleballer Blaine Sims worked five innings for the win while Bryan Radziewski and Derrick Velazquez got some work in.

Bobby Boyd: 1-3, 2 BB
Ryan Bottger: 1-5, HR
J.D. Davis: 1-3, HR (3), 2 BB
A.J. Reed: 1-3, 2 BB
Mott Hyde: 2-3, 2B

Blaine Sims: 5 IP, 5 H. 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Bryan Radziewski: 2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 1 K
Derick Velazquez: 2 IP, 3 K

GCL: Blue Jays 10, Astros 8

The GCL team was absent Derek Fisher today, so that means he could be on his way to Tri-City after a short post-CWS refresher in the GCL. Not a lot of notable offensive performances, but the GCL team full of international guys had a 5:6 K:BB ratio today, which is pretty solid. Randall Fant pitched a solid game, and I'm sort of puzzled as to why he's in the GCL right now unless he's rehabbing from an injury.

Kristian Trompiz: 0-2, BB
Alex Melendez: 1-3, 2B,
Randy Cesar: 2-3
Hector Roa: 0-2, 2 BB
Will Dupont: 0-3, BB
Luis Payano: 2-4, 2B, BB

Randall Fant: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K

Rookie: Kingsport Mets 4, Greeneville Astros 2

Yonathan Mejia: 1-3, BB
Connor Goedert: 0-3, BB
Ydarqui Marte: 0-3
Ramon Laureano: 3-4, HR (1)

Austin Nicely: 3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K

DSL: Indians 2, Astros Blue 1

Wander Franco: 0-4
Connor MacDonald: 1-3
Joan Mauricio: 0-4

Starlyng Sanchez: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
