One of the most active trade deadlines of the past few years ended with the Houston Astros standing pat. Or did they? Shortly after the 3 p.m. CST deadline passed with no deal announced, Astros starter Jarred Cosart walked onto the field and gave teammates hugs.
He then told reporters that he'd been traded to Miami. It also seems that Enrique Hernandez is also part of the deal. No word yet on the return from the Marlins.
Cosart is 9-7 this season in 116 innings with a 4.41 ERA and a 4.02 FIP. He was named the Astros Rookie of the Year last season. As soon as we get the return, we'll update this post.
UPDATE: Reports say Houston getting outfielder Jake Marisnick, third baseman Colin Moran and a competitive balance lottery pick from the Marlins. That would be the first pick in Comp round A, or pick No. 32 overall.
