New York reporter Joel Sherman adds another name to the list of available Astros at this trade deadline. It's one that many of you on TCB have traded away in the past year (out of disgust, not for value).
#Astros looking to move Chris Carter (.212 BA, but 21 HRs). Also would listen on SPs: Cosart, Keuchel, McHugh

There have long been rumblings that Carter could be a great fit in Seattle, since he hits like crazy at Safeco and the M's are in desperate need of another bat. Plus, there have been reports in recent days of Mariners scouts at Astros game.
Of course, Evan Drellich is here to dispel us of those rumors:
Source said earlier today Mariners don’t have interest in Carter. Plus, logic: Astros need his production — they’re trying to add to lineup

Again, there's a disconnect between national media types talking about Astros trades and those with stronger ties to the front office. The starting pitcher rumors? Solid, since Luhnow himself talked about the possibility and the Astros have a logjam of MLB-ready arms at the position.
But, the offense has struggled mightily since Dexter Fowler and George Springer went on the disabled list. It's still very thin, with few above-average MLB hitters playing on a day-to-day basis. To trade Carter would take an overwhelming return and it might also take the Astros receiving someone in return via another deal that could make Carter replaceable.
Either way, his name is out there. And, since Bovada is suggesting the over/under on trades Thursday could be 10 1/2, we could see quite a few deals.
Seriously, though. If they trade Trogdor, I will become StrongSad. None of the current crop of nicknames holds a candle to Trogdor. Nicknames are the fun part! How else can we get through all those losses?
